About Us

HESİAD: 24 Years of Flow from Hydroelectric to the Future

The Hydroelectric Power Plants Industrialists Association (HESİAD), one of the pioneers of Turkey's renewable energy sector, has been at the heart of the industry for 24 years. The hydroelectric sector, a source of pride for our Republic which has reached its 101st anniversary, constitutes 35% of the total installed capacity of the private sector, reflecting HESİAD's contributions to this success story.

The Story of HESİAD: For the Past, Present, and Future of the Sector

Founded at the beginning of the 2000s when the private sector began to invest in hydroelectric energy in Turkey, HESİAD aimed to ensure unity and solidarity in the sector. Since its establishment, HESİAD has been seeking solutions to every issue in the sector and undertaking pioneering work that opens new horizons. Today, it continues to move towards the future with its innovative perspective.

What Sets HESİAD Apart: The Meeting of Experience and Vision

One of the most significant features that distinguish HESİAD from others is the identity of its members. Comprising individuals who grew up in dam and construction site environments and were "born at the heart of the sector," HESİAD has a deep experience and extensive knowledge about the sector. This experience combines with HESİAD's vision for the future to ensure that strong steps are taken in the field of sustainable energy in Turkey.

HESİAD works with an understanding that prioritizes the welfare of the sector and represents all its members. In this regard, it is actively working to increase the number of its members and to find solutions to the sector's chronic problems. Working groups established in areas such as basin management, hybrid power plants, operational issues, new investments, pumped-storage plants, HydroPower Turkey Summit, and communication-member engagement play an active role in overcoming the barriers faced by the sector.

HESİAD also has an Advisory Board composed of valuable individuals who have served the hydroelectric sector for many years and have been involved in decision-making mechanisms. The experience and knowledge of this board provide significant contributions to HESİAD's work, illuminating the future of the sector.

Hydroelectric Capacity Increase:

We aim to play a more efficient, effective, and sustainable role in energy production by increasing our hydroelectric installed capacity.
